Verse 55
मत्तकर्मकृत्मत्परमो मद्भक्तः संगवर्जितः | निर्वैरः सर्वभूतेषु यः स मामेति पाण्डव ॥५५॥
Hindi Translation
हे अर्जुन ! जो पुरुष केवल मेरे ही लिये सम्पूर्ण कर्तव्य कर्मों को करने वाला है, मेरे परायण है, मेरा भक्त है, आसक्तिरहित है और सम्पूर्ण भूतप्राणियों में वैरभाव से रहित है—वह अनन्य भक्त युक्त पुरुष मुझको ही प्राप्त होता है ॥५५॥
English Translation
Arjuna, he who performs all his duties for My sake, depends on Me, is devoted to Me; has no attachment, and is free from malice towards all beings, reaches Me.

Verse 1
एवं सततयुक्ता ये भक्तास्त्वां पर्युपासते । ये चाप्यक्षरमव्यक्तं तेषां के योगवित्तमाः ॥1॥
Hindi Translation
अर्जुन बोले—जो अनन्य प्रेमी भक्तजन पूर्वोक्त प्रकार से निरंतर आपके भजन-ध्यान में लगे रहकर आप सगुणरूप 'परमेश्वर' को और दूसरे जो केवल अविनाशी सच्चिदानन्दधन निराकार ब्रह्मको ही अतिश्रेष्ट भाव से भजते हैं—उन दोनों प्रकार के उपासकों में अति उत्तम योगवेत्ता कौन हैं? ॥1॥
English Translation
Arjuna said: The devotees who, with their minds constantly fixed on You as shown above, adore You as possessed of form and attributes, and those who adore as the supreme Reality

Verse 2
मय्यावेश्य मनो ये मां नित्ययुक्ता उपासते। श्रद्धया परयोपेतास्ते मे युक्ततमाः मताः॥२॥
Hindi Translation
श्रीभगवान बोले—मुझमें मन को एकाग्र करके निरंतर मेरे भजन-ध्यान में लगे हुए जो भक्तजन अतिशय श्रेष्ठ श्रद्धा से युक्त होकर मुझ सगुण रूप परमेश्वर को भजते हैं, वे मुझ को योगियों में अति उत्तम योगी मान्य हैं॥२॥
English Translation
Sri Bhagavan said: I consider them to be the best Yogis, who endowed with supreme faith, and ever united through meditation with Me, worship Me with the mind centred on Me.

ये तु क्षरमनिदेश्यमव्यक्तं पर्युपासते । सर्वत्रगमचिलं च कूटस्थमचलं ध्रुवम् ॥३॥
Hindi Translation
परन्तु जो पुरुष इन्द्रियों के समुदाय को भली प्रकार वश में करके मन-बुद्धि से परे सर्वव्यापी, अकथनीय स्वरूप और सदा एकरस रहने वाले, नित्य, अचल, निराकार, अविनाशी सच्चिदानन्दधन ब्रह्म को निरन्तर एकीभाव से ध्यान करते हुए भजते हैं, वे सम्पूर्ण भूतों के हित में रत और सबमें समान भाव वाले योगी मुझको ही प्राप्त होते हैं ॥३॥
English Translation
Those, however, who fully controlling all their senses and even-minded towards all, and devoted to the welfare of all beings, constantly adore as their very self the unthinkable; omnipresent, indestructible indefinable, eternal, immovable, unmanifest and changeless Brahma, they too come to Me.

सनीयम्येन्द्रियग्रामं सर्वत्र समबुद्धयः । ते प्राप्नुवन्ति मामेव सर्वभूतहिते रताः ॥४॥
Hindi Translation
परन्तु जो पुरुष इन्द्रियों के समुदाय को भली प्रकार वश में करके मन-बुद्धि से परे सर्वव्यापी, अकथनीय स्वरूप और सदा एकरस रहने वाले, नित्य, अचल, निराकार, अविनाशी सच्चिदानन्दधन ब्रह्म को निरन्तर एकीभाव से ध्यान करते हुए भजते हैं, वे सम्पूर्ण भूतों के हित में रत और सबमें समान भाव वाले योगी मुझको ही प्राप्त होते हैं ॥३-४॥
English Translation
Those, however, who fully controlling all their senses and even-minded towards all, and devoted to the welfare of all beings, constantly adore as their very self the unthinkable; omnipresent, indestructible indefinable, eternal, immovable, unmanifest and changeless Brahma, they too come to Me.

क्लेशोऽधिकतरस्तेषामव्यक्तासक्तचेतसाम् । अव्यक्ता हि गतिर्दुःखं देहवद्भिरवाप्यते ॥५॥
Hindi Translation
उन सच्चिदानन्दघन निराकार ब्रह्म में आसक्त चित्तवाले पुरुषों के साधन में परिश्रम विशेष है, क्योंकि देहाभिमानियों के द्वारा अव्यक्त विषयक गति दुःखपूर्वक प्राप्त की जाती है ॥५॥
English Translation
Of course, the strain is greater for those who have their mind attached to the Unmanifest; for atonement with the Unmanifest is attained with difficulty by those who are centred in the body. (12.5)

Verse 6
ये तु सर्वाणि कर्माणि मयि संन्यस्य मत्पराः। अनन्येनेव योगेन मां ध्यायन्त उपासते॥६॥
Hindi Translation
परन्तु जो मेरे परायण रहने वाले भक्तजन सम्पूर्ण कर्मों को मुझ में अर्पण करके मुझ सगुण रूप परमेश्वर को ही अनन्य भक्ति योग से निरन्तर चिन्तन करते हुए भजते हैं॥६॥
English Translation
On the other hand, those who depending exclusively on Me, and surrendering all actions to Me, worship Me (God with attributes), constantly meditating on Me with single-minded devotion.

Verse 7
तेषामहं समुद्धर्ता मृत्युसंसारसागरात् | भवामि नचिरात्पार्थ मय्यावेशितचेतसाम् || 7 ||
Hindi Translation
हे अर्जुन ! उन मुझ में चित लगाने वाले प्रेमी भक्तों का मैं शीघ्र ही मृत्यु रूप संसार-समुद्र से उद्धार करने वाला होता हूँ ॥ ७ ॥
English Translation
These, Arjuna, I speedily deliver from the ocean of birth and death, their mind being fixed on Me.

Verse 8
मय्येव मन आधत्स्व मयि बुद्धिं निवेशय | निवसिष्यसि मय्येव अत ऊर्ध्वं न संशयः || 8 ||
Hindi Translation
मुझ में मन को लगा और मुझ में ही बुद्धि को लगा; इसके उपरान्त तू मुझ में ही निवास करेगा, इसमें कुछ भी संशय नहीं है ॥ ८ ॥
English Translation
Therefore, fix your mind on Me, and establish your intellect in Me alone; thereafter you will abide solely in Me. There is no doubt about it.

Verse 9
अथ चित्तं समाधातुं न शक्नोषि मयि स्थिरम्। अभ्यासयोगेन ततो मामिच्छापुं धनञ्जय ॥९॥
Hindi Translation
यदि तू मन को मुझमें अचल स्थापना करने के लिये समर्थ नहीं है तो हे अर्जुन ! अभ्यास रूप योग के द्वारा मुझको प्राप्त होने के लिये इच्छा कर ॥९॥
English Translation
If you cannot steadily fix the mind on Me, Arjuna, then seek to attain Me through the Yoga of repeated practice.

Verse 10
अभ्यासेऽप्यसमर्थोऽसि मत्कर्मपरमो भव। मदर्थमपि कर्माणि कुर्वन्सिद्धिमवाप्स्यसि ॥१०॥
Hindi Translation
यदि तू उपयुक्त अभ्यास में भी असमर्थ है तो केवल मेरे लिये कर्म करने के ही परायण हो जा। इस प्रकार मेरे निमित्त कर्मों को करता हुआ भी मेरी प्राप्ति रूप सिद्धि को ही प्राप्त होगा ॥१०॥
English Translation
If You are unequal even to the pursuit of such practice, be intent to work for Me; you shall attain perfection (in the shape of My realization) even by performing actions for My sake.

Verse 11
अथैतदप्यशक्तोऽसि कर्तुं मद्योगमाश्रितः | सर्वकर्मफलत्यागं ततः कुरु यतात्मवान् ॥११॥
Hindi Translation
यदि मेरी प्राप्ति रूप योग के आश्रित होकर उपयुक्त साधन को करने में भी तू असमर्थ है तो मन-बुद्धि आदि पर विजय प्राप्त करने वाला होकर सब कर्मों के फल का त्याग कर ॥११॥
English Translation
If, taking recourse to the Yoga of My realization, you are unable even to do this, then, subduing your mind and intellect etc., relinquish the fruit of all actions.
