Sanskrit
यतन्तो योगिनश्चैवं पश्यन्त्यात्मन्यवस्थितम् । यतन्तोऽप्यकृतात्मानो नैं पश्यत्यचेतसः ॥११॥
Hindi Translation
यत करने वाले योगी जन भी अपने हृदय में स्थित इस आत्मा को तत्त्व से जानते हैं; किंतु जिन्होंने अपने अन्तःकरण को शुद्ध नहीं किया है, ऐसे अज्ञानीजन तो यत करते रहने पर भी इस आत्मा को नहीं जानते ॥११॥
English Translation
Striving Yogis too are able to realize this Self enshrined in their heart. The ignorant; however, whose heart has not been purified, know not this Self in spite of their best endeavours.

Sanskrit
यदादित्यगतं तेजो जगद्भासयतेऽखिलम् । यच्चन्द्रमसि यच्चान्नो तत्तेजो विद्धि मामकम् ॥१२॥
Hindi Translation
सूर्य में स्थित जो तेज सम्पूर्ण जगत को प्रकाशित करता है तथा जो तेज चन्द्रमा में है और जो अग्नि में है—उसको तू मेरा ही तेज जान ॥१२॥
English Translation
The light in the sun, that illumines the entire solar world, and that which shines in the moon and that too which shines in the fire, know that light to be Mine.

गामाविश्य च भूतानि धारयाम्यहमोजसा । पुष्णामि चौषधीः सर्वाः सोमो भूत्वा रसात् मकः ॥१३॥
Hindi Translation
और मैं ही पृथ्वी में प्रवेश करके अपनी शक्ति से सब भूतों को धारण करता हूँ और रस स्वरूप अर्थात् अमृतमय चन्द्रमा होकर सम्पूर्ण औषधियों को अर्थात् वनस्पतियों को पुष्ट करता हूँ ॥१३॥
English Translation
And permeating the soil, it is I who support all creatures by My vital power; and becoming the nectarine moon, I nourish all pllants.

अहं वैश्वानो भूत्वा प्राणिनां देहमाश्रितः। प्राणापानसमायुक्तः पचाम्यन्नं चतुर्विधम्॥१४॥
Hindi Translation
मैं ही सब प्राणियों के शरीर में स्थित रहने वाला प्राण और अपान से संयुक्त वैश्वानर अग्नि रूप होकर चार प्रकार के अन्न को पचाता हूँ॥१४॥
English Translation
Taking the form of fire lodged in the body of all creatures and united with the Prana (ingoing) and Apana (outgoing) breaths, it is I who consume the four kinds of food. (14)

सर्वस्य चाहं हृदि सन्निविष्टो मतः स्मृतिज्ञानमपोहनं च। वेदैश्च सर्वैरहमेव वेद्यो वेदान्तकृद्वेदविदेव चाहम्॥१५॥
Hindi Translation
मैं ही सब प्राणियों के हृदय में अन्तःयामी रूप से स्थित हूँ तथा मुझसे ही स्मृति, ज्ञान और अपोहन होता है और सब वेदों द्वारा मैं ही जानने के योग्य हूँ तथा वेदान्त का कर्ता और वेदों को जानने वाला भी मैं ही हूँ॥१५॥
English Translation
I am seated in the hearts of all; I am the beginning, the middle and the end of knowledge. I am memory, knowledge and forgetfulness. I am indeed the knower of the Vedas, and the author of Vedanta, and the remover of doubts. (15)

द्वाविमौ पुरुषौ लोके क्षरश्चाक्षर एव च । क्षरः सर्वाणि भूतानि कूटस्थोऽक्षर उच्यते ॥१६॥
Hindi Translation
इस संसार में नाशवान् और अविनाशी भी, ये दो प्रकार के पुरुष हैं। इनमें सम्पूर्ण भूत प्राणियों के शरीर तो नाशवान् और जीवात्मा अविनाशी कहा जाता है ॥१६॥
English Translation
The perishable and the imperishable too—these are the two kinds of Purusas in this world. Of these, the bodies of all beings are spoken of as the perishable; while the jivatma or the embodied soul is called imperishable.

उत्तमः पुरुषास्त्वन्यः परमात्मेत्युदाहृतः | यो लोकत्रयमाविश्य विभर्त्यव्यय ईश्वरः ||१७||
Hindi Translation
इन दोनों से उत्तम पुरुष तो अन्य ही है, जो तीनों लोकों में प्रवेश करके सबका धारण- पोषण करता है एवं अविनाशी परमेश्वर और परमात्मा—इस प्रकार कहा गया है ॥१७॥
English Translation
The Supreme Person is yet other than these, who, having entered all the three worlds, upholds and maintains all, and has been spoken of as the imperishable Lord and the supreme Spirit.

यस्मादक्षरमतीतोऽहमक्षरादपि चोत्तमः | अतोऽस्मि लोके वेदे च प्रसिद्धः पुरुषोत्तमः ||१८||
Hindi Translation
क्योंकि मैं नाशवान् जडवर्ग-क्षेत्र से तो सर्वथा अतीत हूँ और अविनाशी जीवात्मा से भी उत्तम हूँ, इसलिए लोक में और वेद में भी पुरुषोत्तम नाम से प्रसिद्ध हूँ ॥१८॥
English Translation
Since I am wholly beyond the perishable world of matter of Ksetra, and am superior even to the imperishable soul, hence I am well known in the world and in the Vedas as the Supreme Person.

Sanskrit
यो मामेवमंसूमृदो जानाति पुरुषोत्तमम्। स सर्वविद्भजति मां सर्वभावेन भारत॥१८॥
Hindi Translation
हे भारत ! जो ज्ञानी पुरुष मुझको इस प्रकार तत्व से पुरुषोत्तम जानता है, वह सर्वज्ञ पुरुष सब प्रकार से निरन्तर मुझ वासुदेव परमेश्वर को ही भजता है ॥१८॥
English Translation
Arjuna, the wise man who thus realizes Me as the Supreme Person,—knowing all, he constantly worship Me (the all-pervading Lord) with his whole being.

20
Sanskrit
इति गुह्यतमं शास्त्रमिदमुक्तं मयानघ । एतद्बुद्ध्वा बुद्धिमान्स्यात्कृतकृत्यश्च भारत ॥२०॥
Hindi Translation
हे निष्पाप अर्जुन! इस प्रकार यह अति रहस्य युक्त गोपनीय शास्त्र मेरे द्वारा कहा गया, इसका तत्व से जानकर मनुष्य ज्ञानी और कृतार्थ हो जाता है ॥२०॥
English Translation
Arjuna, this most esoteric teaching has thus been imparted by Me; grasping it in essence man becomes wise and his mission in life is accomplished. (15.20)
