Verse 25
लभन्ते ब्रह्मनिर्वाणमृषयः क्षीणकल्मषाः | छिन्देद्वा यतात्मानः सर्वभूतहिते रताः ॥२५॥
Hindi Translation
जिनके सब पाप नष्ट हो गये हैं, जिनके सब संशय ज्ञान के द्वारा निःश्चित हो गये हैं, जो सम्पूर्ण प्राणियों के हित में रत हैं और जिनका जीता हुआ मन निश्चल भाव से परमात्मा में स्थित है, वे ब्रह्मवेत्ता पुरुष शान्त ब्रह्म को प्राप्त होते हैं ॥२५॥
English Translation
The seers whose sins have been wiped out, whose doubts have been dispelled by Knowledge, whose disciplined mind is firmly established in God and who are actively engaged in the service of all beings, attain Brahma, who is all peace.

Verse 26
कामक्रोधवियुक्तानां यतीनां यतचेतसाम् | अभितो ब्रह्मनिर्वाणं वर्तते विदितात्मनाम् ॥२६॥
Hindi Translation
काम-क्रोध से रहित, जीते हुए चितवाले, परब्रह्म परमात्मा का साक्षात्कार किये हुए ज्ञानी पुरुषों के लिये सब ओर से शान्त परब्रह्म परमात्मा ही परिपूर्ण हैं ॥२६॥
English Translation
To those wise men who are free from lust and anger, who have subdued their mind and have realized the Supreme Brahman, the all-pervading peaceful Supreme Brahman is present everywhere.

Verse 27
स्पर्शं कृत्वा बहिर्वाहांश्च यथोच्छ्वासैर्वातरे भुवोः। प्राणापानो समो कृत्वा नासाभ्यन्तरचारिणो॥२७॥
Hindi Translation
बाहर के विषय-भोगों को न चिन्तन करता हुआ बाहर ही त्यागकर और नेत्रों की दृष्टि को भृकुटी के बीच में स्थित करके तथा नासिका में विचरनेवाले प्राण और अपानवायु को सम करके,
English Translation
Shutting out all thoughts of external enjoyments, with the gaze fixed on the space between the eye-brows, having regulated the Prana (outgoing) and the Apana (ingoing) breaths flowing within the nostrils;

Verse 28
यतेन्द्रियमनोबुद्धिर्मुनिर्मोक्षपरायणः। विगतेच्छाभयक्रोधो यः सदा मुक्त एव सः॥२८॥
Hindi Translation
जिसकी इन्द्रियाँ, मन और बुद्धि जीती हुई हैं—ऐसा जो मोक्षपरायण मुनि इच्छा, भय और क्रोध से रहित हो गया है, वह सदा मुक्त ही है॥२७-२८॥
English Translation
he who has brought his senses, mind and intellect under control, who is devoted to liberation, free from desire, fear and anger, he is always free.

Verse 29
भोक्तारं यज्ञतपसां सर्वलोकमहेश्वरम् । सुगृहं सर्वभूतानां ज्ञात्वा मां शान्तिमृच्छति ॥२६॥
Hindi Translation
मेरा भक्त मुझको सब यज्ञ और तपों का भोगने वाला, सम्पूर्ण लोकों के ईश्वरों का भी ईश्वर तथा सम्पूर्ण भूत-प्राणियों का सुहृद अर्थात् स्वार्थरहित दयालु और प्रेमी, ऐसा तत्व से जानकर शान्ति को प्राप्त होता है ॥२६॥
English Translation
Having Known Me in reality as the enjoyer of all sacrifices and austerities, the supreme Lord of all the worlds, and the disinterested friend of all beings, My devotee attains peace.

Verse 1
अनाश्रितः कर्मफलं कार्यं कर्म करोति यः । स संन्यासी च योगी च न निरग्निर्न चाक्रियः ॥ १ ॥
Hindi Translation
श्रीभगवान बोले— जो पुरुष कर्म फल का आश्रय न लेकर करने योग्य कर्म करता है, वह संन्यासी तथा योगी है; और केवल अग्नि का त्याग करने वाला संन्यासी नहीं है तथा केवल क्रियाओं का त्याग करने वाला योगी नहीं है ॥ १ ॥
English Translation
Sri Bhagavan said: he who does his duty without expecting the fruit of actions is a Samnyasi (Sankhyayogi) and a Yogi (Karma-yogi) both. He is no Samnyasi (renouncer) who has merely renounced the sacred fire; even so he is no Yogi, who has merely given up all activity.

Verse 2
यं संन्यासमिति प्राहुयोगं तं विद्धि पाण्डव। न ह्यसंन्यस्तसंकल्पो योगी भवति कश्चन॥२॥
Hindi Translation
हे अर्जुन! जिसको संन्यास ऐसा कहते हैं, उसी को तू योग जान। क्योंकि संकल्पों का त्याग न करने वाला कोई भी पुरुष योगी नहीं होता॥२॥
English Translation
Arjuna, you must know that what they call Samnyasa is no other than Yoga; for none becomes a Yogi, who has not given up thoughts of the world. (2)

Verse 3
आरुरुक्षोर्मुनियोगं कर्म कारणमुच्यते। योगासक्तः तस्यैव शमः कारणमुच्यते॥३॥
Hindi Translation
योग में आसक्त होने की इच्छा वाले मननशील पुरुष के लिये योग की प्राप्ति में निःकाम भाव से कर्म करना ही हेतु कहा जाता है और योगासक्त हो जाने पर उस योगासक्त पुरुष का जो सर्वसंकल्पों का अभाव है वही कल्याण में हेतु कहा जाता है॥३॥
English Translation
To the contemplative soul who desires to ascend to Yoga, action is said to be the cause; to him who is attached to Yoga, peace is said to be the cause. (3)

Verse 4
यदा हि नैन्द्रियार्थेषु न कर्मस्वनुषज्जते । सर्वसंकल्पसंन्यासी योगारूढस्तदोच्च्यते ॥४॥
Hindi Translation
जिस काल में न तो इन्द्रियों के भोगों में और न कर्मों में ही आसक्त होता है, उस काल में सर्वसंकल्पों का त्यागी पुरुष योगारूढ़ कहा जाता है ॥४॥
English Translation
When a man ceases to have any attachment either for the objects of senses or for actions, and has renounced all thoughts of the world, he is said to have climbed to the heights of Yoga.

Verse 5
उद्धरेदात्मनात्मानं नात्मानमवसादयेत् । आत्मैव ह्यात्मनो बन्धुरात्मैव रिपुरात्मनः ॥५॥
Hindi Translation
अपने द्वारा अपना संसार-समुद्र से उद्धार करे और अपने को अधोगति में न डाले, क्योंकि यह मनुष्य आप ही तो अपना मित्र है और आप ही अपना शत्रु है ॥५॥
English Translation
One should lift oneself by one’s own efforts and should not degrade oneself; for one’s own self is one’s friend, and one’s own self is one’s enemy. (6.5)

Verse 6
बन्धुरात्मात्मनस्तस्य येनात्मैवात्मना जितः। अनात्मनस्तु शत्रुत्वे वर्ततात्मैव शत्रुवत्॥६॥
Hindi Translation
जिस जीवात्मा द्वारा मन और इन्द्रियों सहित शरीर जीता हुआ है, उस जीवात्मा का तो वह आप ही मित्र है और जिसके द्वारा मन तथा इन्द्रियों सहित शरीर नहीं जीता गया है, उसके लिये वह आप ही शत्रु के सदृश शत्रुता में बर्तता है॥६॥
English Translation
One’s own self is the friend of the soul by whom the lower self (consisting of the mind, senses and body) has been conquered; even so the very self of him who has not conquered his lower self behaves antagonistically like an enemy.

Verse 7
जितात्मनः प्रशान्तस्य परमात्मा समाहितः | शीतोष्णसुखदुःखेषु तथा मानापमानयोः ॥७॥
Hindi Translation
सरदी-गरमी और सुख-दुःखादि में तथा मान और अपमान में जिसके अन्तःकरण की वृत्तियाँ भलीभाँति शान्त हैं, ऐसे स्वाधीन आत्मावाले पुरुष के ज्ञान में सच्चिदानन्दधन परमात्मा सम्यक् प्रकार से स्थित हैं अर्थात् उसके ज्ञान में परमात्मा के सिवा अन्य कुछ है ही नहीं ॥७॥
English Translation
The Supreme Spirit is rooted in the knowledge of the self-controlled man whose mind is perfectly serene in the midst of pairs of opposites, such as cold and heat, joy and sorrow, and honour and ignominy.
