Verse 24
Sanskrit
समदुःखसुखः स्वस्थः समलोष्टाश्मकाञ्चनः | तुल्यप्रियाप्रियो धीरस्तुल्यनिन्दात्मसंसृतिः || २४ ||
Hindi Translation
जो निरंतर आत्मभाव में स्थित, दुःख-सुख को समान समझने वाला, मिट्टी, पत्थर और स्वर्ण में समान भाव वाला, ज्ञानी, प्रिय तथा अप्रिय को एक-सा मानने वाला और अपनी निन्दा-स्तुति में भी समान भाव वाला है ॥२४॥
English Translation
He who is ever established in the Self, takes woe and joy alike, regards a clod of earth, a stone and a piece of gold as equal in value, is possessed of wisdom, perceives the pleasant as well as the unpleasant in the same spirit, and views censure and praise alike.

मानापमानयोस्तुल्यस्तुल्यो मित्रारिपक्षयोः | सर्वारम्भपरित्यागी गुणातीता: स उच्यते || २५ || पक्षं में भी सम है एवं सम्पूर्ण आरम्भों में कर्तपिन के अभिमान से रहित है, वह पुरुष गुणातीत कहा जाता है ॥२५॥
Hindi Translation
जो मान और अपमान में सम है, मित्र और बैरी के पक्ष में भी सम है एवं सम्पूर्ण आरम्भों में कर्तपिन के अभिमान से रहित है, वह पुरुष गुणातीत कहा जाता है।
English Translation
He who is indifferent to honour and ignominy; is alike to the cause of a friend as well as to that of an enemy, and has renounced the senses of doership in all undertakings, is said to have risen above the three Gunas. (25)
