Verse 14
Sanskrit
देवदिजगुरुप्राजपुजनं शौचमार्जवम् | ब्रह्मचर्यमहिंसा च शारीरं तप उच्यते ॥१४॥
Hindi Translation
देवता, ब्राह्मण, गुरु और ज्ञानीजनों का पूजन, पवित्रता, सरलता, ब्रह्मचर्य और अहिंसा—यह शरीर संबंधी तप कहा जाता है ॥१४॥
English Translation
Worship of gods, the Brahmanas, one’s elders and wise men, purity, straightness, continence and harmlessness—this is called bodily penance.

अनुदेकारं वाक्यं सत्यं प्रियहितं च यत्। स्वाध्यायाभ्यासं चैव वाङ्मयं तप उच्यते॥१५॥
Hindi Translation
जो उद्‍देश न करने वाला, प्रिय और हितकारक एवं यथार्थ भाषण है तथा जो वेद-शास्त्रों के पठन् का एवं परमेश्वर के नाम-जप का अभ्यास है—वही वाणी संबंधी तप कहा जाता है ॥१५॥
English Translation
Words which cause no annoyance to others and are truthful, agreeable and wholesome, as well as the study of the Vedas and other Sastras and the practice of repetition of the Divine Name—this is known as the austerity of speech.
