Sanskrit
पञ्चैतानि महाबाहो कारणानि निबोध मे | सांख्ये कृतान्ते प्रोक्तानि सिद्ध्ये सर्वकर्मणाम् || १३ ||
Hindi Translation
हे महाबाहो! सम्पूर्ण कर्मों की सिद्धि के पाँच हेतु कर्मों का अन्त करने के लिये उपाय बतलाने वाले सांख्य-शास्त्र में कहे गये हैं, उनको तु मुझसे भलीभाँति जान ॥ १३ ॥
English Translation
O mighty-armed, understand these five causes by me explained, which are declared in the Sankhya doctrine as the means for the accomplishment of all actions.

अधिष्ठानं तथा कर्ता करणं च पृथिविधम् | विविधाश्च पृथक् इष्टा देवं चैवात्र पञ्चमम् || १४ ||
Hindi Translation
इस विषय में अर्थात कर्मों की सिद्धि में अधिष्ठान और कर्ता तथा भिन्न-भिन्न प्रकार के करण एवं नाना प्रकार की अलग-अलग चेष्टाएँ और वैसे ही पाँचवाँ हेतु देव कहा गया है ॥१४॥
English Translation
The following are the factors operating towards the accomplishment of actions, viz., the seat of action and the agent, the organs of different kinds and the separate movements of divergent types; and the fifth is Daiva or destiny.
